About the Role

The
Commercial Assistant Property Manager
supports the day‑to‑day operations, tenant relations, and financial performance of a commercial real estate portfolio in the Greater Halifax Area. Working closely with the Property Manager, this role helps ensure that buildings operate efficiently, meet corporate and regulatory standards, and deliver an exceptional tenant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary contact for tenants, overseeing inquiries, service requests, onboarding, lease documentation, and move‑ins/outs.
  • Support the Property Manager in maintaining strong tenant relationships and managing escalations.
  • Assist with daily building operations, including property inspections, maintenance coordination, contractor oversight, and preventative maintenance tracking.
  • Handle administrative and financial tasks such as budgeting support, invoice processing, expense tracking, lease administration, rent collection, and database management.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor activities, including scheduling, contract administration, procurement, and verifying completed work.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, environmental standards, and support emergency preparedness and incident response.
  • Assist with construction, renovation, and tenant improvement projects, including tracking progress, budgets, and project communications.

Qualifications

  • Education in business administration, property management, real estate, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–4+ years of experience in commercial property management or relevant real estate operations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of commercial leases, building systems, and maintenance best practices preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide excellent customer service.
