About the Role

Fix-It-Pros is hiring an experienced Senior Handyman capable of performing high-quality residential and small commercial work with minimal supervision. This is NOT an entry-level role—only apply if you have hands-on experience completing multiple full renovations (basement, bathroom, kitchen, suite, or similar).

We offer a hybrid compensation structure:

Compensation

Hourly Pay ($40–$50/hr)

For:

• Larger multi-day or multi-week projects
• Internal quoted work
• Renovation-level tasks requiring deep trade skills

Performance Pay – Earn 30% of the job ticket

After several months of training, you will quote your own jobs.

If you quote a 4-hour job and finish in 2—you still earn the full 30%.

Quality matters: Call-backs or rework are unpaid.

Who We're Looking For

We need someone who is well-rounded, deeply skilled, and construction-literate. You must have the experience and knowledge to understand what you're opening, fixing, or building—before you touch it.

Specifically, you must:

Renovation & Construction Literacy

• Have completed multiple full home or suite renovations
• Be able to look at a wall and confidently determine:
• • Whether it's load-bearing
• • Whether it's insulated
• • Whether it's a firewall
• • Whether it's plastered, skim-coated, or layered drywall
• • Whether electrical or plumbing is likely inside
• Understand structural elements (joists, beams, posts, spans, transitions, penetrations)
• Understand materials, sequencing, and best-practice building method

Professional Interaction & Code Experience

• Have experience dealing with architects, engineers, inspectors, and inspections
• Be comfortable reading drawings
• Know when to call in a licensed trade vs. when you can safely resolve an issue yourself
• Understand WorkSafe and basic building code concepts

Technical Skill Set

You should be strong in most of the following:

• Carpentry: framing, trim, doors, windows, decks, fences
• Drywall: repairs, skimming, installation
• Painting: proper prep, finishing, and cut-in standards
• Light plumbing: faucets, garburators, toilets, traps, unclogging
• Light electrical: switches, outlets, thermostats, fixtures
• Flooring: vinyl plank, laminate, tile repairs
• Rot repairs & small roof repairs
• Siding, soffit, fascia
• Cabinet/vanity installs
• Glass & window repair
• Smart home installs
• Gutter cleaning, pressure washing
• General troubleshooting and diagnosis

Requirements

• Several years of hands-on renovation experience
• Ability to quote jobs using our pricing system
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Your own tools and vehicle (preferred)
• Proven reliability and work ethic
• Clean communication with clients and teammates
• Ability to complete high-quality work with minimal oversight
