Overview:

Columbus Charities Association is a not-for-profit organization who provides low cost housing for seniors. We are seeking a casual / on-call handyman to assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks within our two independent living, seniors residences in Prince Rupert, BC. You will be responsible for responding to various assigned tasks and will report to the Building Manager.

Responsibilities:

- Fix/Replace leaky faucets, clogged drains/toilets, and other minor plumbing issues.

  • Repair electrical problems such as replacing light bulbs, replace smoke detector batteries.

  • Complete suite renovations, which could include replacing the flooring, repairing drywall and painting the entire suite, installing new baseboards, installing new toilet and bathroom sink and any other tasks that are needed to get the suite in a rent ready state.

  • Maintaining the common areas of the building as needed or directed.

  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.

  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities and provide a daily update to the Building Manager.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Handyman or similar role.

  • Have your own tools

  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools as well as painting skills.

  • Strong knowledge of general repair and maintenance tasks.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Excellent customer service skills with a patient and friendly demeanor

  • Ability to manage time efficiently.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to enable you to get supplies as needed.

  • Able to provide Police Record check to work with Vulnerable Persons
