Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for analyzing and maintaining cost records, supporting financial reporting, and assisting with various accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

Cost Accounting:

  • Analyze manufacturing and operational costs to support pricing, budgeting, and profitability decisions.
  • Maintain and update cost standards and inventory valuation.
  • Monitor cost variances and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost forecasts and budgets.
  • Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.

General Accounting Support:

  • Perform account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts.
  • Generate accounting and financial reports to support business decisions.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end working paper preparation.
  • Analyze transactional data and prepare journal entries as needed.
  • Recommend improvements to accounting procedures and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulations.

Administrative & Cross-functional Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the Finance Department.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting-related queries.
  • Support ad hoc projects and reporting requests.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably with exposure to cost accounting.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Epicor, Great Plains, Infor LN preferred).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
