Automotive Technician

Can-Traffic is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Automotive Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both Ford and Chevrolet vehicles, including Ford diesel engines, and will be certified to perform CVIP inspections. The role requires proficiency in diagnostics, electrical systems, air conditioning repair, and experience working on light-duty trailers.

What you will do Everyday
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on Ford and Chevrolet gas and diesel vehicles
- Conduct CVIP inspections in accordance with Alberta Transportation regulations
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems using appropriate tools and techniques
- Service and repair air conditioning systems (recovery, recharging, component replacement)
- Inspect, maintain, and repair light-duty trailers including car haulers, cargo, and dump trailers
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed
- Collaborate with service advisors and other technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs
- Adhere to shop safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Work every second Saturday as part of the regular shift rotation
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
- Strong time management and organizational abilities; adaptable and capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills; able to resolve conflicts and collaborate with team members and external partners.
- Solid understanding of 12V electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to assess repair/maintenance decisions for both opportunities and risks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Physically capable of performing labour-intensive tasks and working in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital documentation tools..
Qualifications Needed
- Journeyman Automotive Service Technician certification
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Journeyman technician
- Valid CVIP License (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program)
- Valid Alberta Class 1, 3 driver's license with air brakes (Q endorsement) is an asset
