About the Role:

As a Quality Control Coordinator, you will ensure the highest food safety and quality standards for all products that come through our warehouse. You'll be responsible for implementing and monitoring CanadaGAP and HACCP programs, ensuring compliance with CFIA regulations, and supporting warehouse operations to guarantee fresh and safe produce for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
Food Safety & Quality Standards:
  • CanadaGAP & HACCP Compliance: Develop, implement, and update CanadaGAP and HACCP programs to meet food safety standards. Ensure compliance through regular audits and inspections.
  • Inspections & Audits: Conduct inspections of incoming produce, packaging, and in-process warehouse operations to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Training & Support: Provide training and guidance to warehouse personnel on CanadaGAP and HACCP requirements. Support staff with food safety best practices and troubleshooting.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and testing results. Assist with CFIA inspections and microbiological sampling as necessary.

Warehouse Operations & Compliance:

  • Inventory Control & Shipping: Oversee the receipt, storage, and shipping of produce to ensure compliance with quality specifications. Monitor inventory levels and address discrepancies promptly.
  • Temperature & Equipment Monitoring: Ensure optimal storage conditions by overseeing cooler and freezer temperatures. Calibrate thermometers and monitor equipment for operational efficiency.
  • Sanitation & Maintenance: Coordinate and monitor sanitation activities to meet both daily and periodic cleaning requirements. Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the warehouse at all times.

Quality Control & Problem Solving:

  • Customer Complaint Investigation: Investigate customer complaints related to product quality, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Analyze trends and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Troubleshooting: Collaborate with the team to identify and resolve quality control issues related to warehouse and procurement processes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist in maintaining regulatory certifications and permits related to CanadaGAP and CFIA. Participate in 3rd-party audits and ensure ongoing compliance.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain Key Reports: Generate daily QC reports, store claims, receiving logs, and inventory updates. Ensure documentation is complete and up to date for audits and internal review.
  • Traceability & Product Monitoring: Monitor product labeling, packaging, and documentation to ensure traceability and quality compliance throughout the warehouse.
  • Performance Monitoring: Support the development of SOPs, assist in process improvements, and ensure timely completion of key tasks within warehouse operations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A Food Technology Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Food Science.
  • Expertise in Food Safety: Strong understanding of CanadaGAP, HACCP, and CFIA regulations.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage complex information with precision and accuracy.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and managing documentation systems.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to move and lift up to 70 lbs and work in cold, refrigerated environments.
  • Team-Oriented: Collaborative mindset with a focus on fostering a positive work environment and continuous improvement.
  • Valid BC Driver's License: Required for occasional transportation of materials or operational needs.

Work Environment:

This position combines both office and warehouse duties. You will work in a refrigerated warehouse environment, with tasks that may require lifting and carrying objects, operating equipment, and moving between different areas of the facility.
