Reporting to the Co-CEO, the
Human Resources Generalist
will provide comprehensive HR support across Canada, including recruiting, payroll processing, employee benefits administration, and generalist functions. This role will also manage and direct the work of an India-based HR resource (HR generalist/recruiter/admin), ensuring alignment with business objectives and HR best practices. The successful candidate will be self-directed, confident, experienced, and capable of operating independently. Involvement in internal projects outside of HR will be expected as time permits.

This is a remote role; however, preference will be given to candidates based in New Brunswick, Canada, due to the need for occasional in-office visits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver core HR programs, including performance management, employee development, succession planning, engagement, role profiling, and health & wellness initiatives.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, programs, and best practices.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for North America, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Oversee payroll processing for North American employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including plan review, communication, and coordination with providers.
  • Direct and support the India-based HR resource, providing guidance, setting priorities, and ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Identify people-related issues, recommend solutions, and assist in implementation.
  • Support business unit objectives through continuous improvement initiatives related to people and culture.
  • Counsel employees and managers on workplace issues, escalating to senior leadership as needed.Participate in internal HR and cross-functional projects as capacity allows.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Significant HR generalist experience, with demonstrated ability to operate independently.
  • Experience in recruiting for North America, managing payroll processes, and administering employee benefits.Experience managing or directing remote/global HR resources is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education or designation in Human Resources, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong knowledge of provincial employment standards and legislation across Canada
  • Excellent relationship-building, coaching, and negotiation skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities
  • Analytical thinking and strong business acumen
  • Experience working with global teams is considered an asset.
