Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and reliable
Non-Ferrous Receiver
to join our non-ferrous metals department at our Sainte-Sophie site. You will play a crucial role in supporting the overall operations of our facility. This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a strong work ethic.

What You Will Be Responsible For

  • Inspect, sort, and separate different ferrous materials, removing all non-recyclable components
  • Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to move materials within the facility
  • Operate a front loader to safely receive and unload customer materials, including moving materials around the yard
  • Assist in processing metal through cutting, shearing, and shredding equipment to prepare for further processing
  • Maintain accurate inventory and grading records using phones or tablets
  • Follow all safety guidelines and protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment
  • Provide excellent customer service while working with members of the public

Qualifications
To join our team:

  • You have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a laborer or receiver in an industrial environment (an asset)
  • You have experience in metal recycling (an asset)
  • You are in good physical condition and capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions
  • You can handle a fast-paced work environment, adapt to changing priorities, and perform well under pressure
  • You have 1–2 years of experience operating a forklift (an asset)
  • You are detail-oriented and enjoy repetitive work
  • You are reliable, responsible, resourceful, punctual, and diligent
  • You are capable of working in a noisy and dusty environment
  • You have knowledge of metals (an asset)
  • You enjoy teamwork and can also work independently
  • You are willing to learn how to operate heavy equipment such as a front loader
  • You are conscientious about workplace health and safety
  • You are comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (mask, earplugs, helmet, gloves, etc.)
