About Red Table Catering (RTC)
RTC is the catering company serving Red Pine Camp on Golden Lake in Ontario. Red Pine is a family camp operating from Canada Day Weekend until Labour Day Weekend every Summer. Staff live and work at camp, cooking for approximately 400 people, 3 meals per day. We work with regional farmers to source local ingredients and strive to create high quality cuisine with rustic, homestyle flare.
You will live in a small cabin, eat in the big dining hall, and during time off you can enjoy the lake, boats, sporting facilities and social activities of camp life
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Pastry chef to lead our dessert and bread program for the Summer.
This role involves planning and executing daily dessert offerings, managing a small team to refine recipes, create desserts and morning pastries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in professional baking, and leadership experience in a kitchen settings. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise dessert program
- Manage small team
- Support with inventory tracking and ordering
- Support with scheduling
- Ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times
- Help train staff on proper food handling, and baking techniques
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment in compliance with health regulations
- Collaborate with dietary departments to accommodate specific dietary needs and restrictions
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, baking, or culinary roles within the food industry or restaurant settings
- Strong knowledge of food safety protocols and sanitation standards
- Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards of service
- Catering background is desirable
- Previous management experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
We are a young team, and for many of our employees, this is their first experience working in a kitchen. This role is ideal for someone who is excited about living at camp all Summer and stepping in to a leadership role. While the work is a seasonal contract, many of our senior employees return year after year. If you are a good fit year over year we offer returning signing bonuses and incentives.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
