Overview: 

As Director of Finance (Contract) at Greenhouse, you are entrusted with the critical responsibility of overseeing the company's financial processes, internal reporting and managing the finance team. In this role, you ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, provide strategic insights through detailed financial analysis, and maintain robust financial controls. Your work supports senior management in making informed decisions that align with the company's broader business objectives.

Your scope of responsibility includes managing working capital, including the key financial processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, property, plant + equipment, as well as oversee both internal and external reporting. You will collaborate closely with department heads to ensure that financial practices are integrated into the company's operations, providing data-driven recommendations that enhance performance and drive profitability. Additionally, you will lead the development and management of junior finance team members, fostering a high-performing and growth-oriented team.

This position demands a strong command of accounting standards, financial analysis, and team leadership, along with the ability to operate in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

  3. Accuracy of financial/managerial reporting (# of errors, $ changes after release)

  6. Timely completion of reporting (days on time) 

Statement of Work & Responsibilities: 

General Responsibilities & Strategy 

  • Oversee the Finance team in producing month-end, quarter end and year-end financial reports for the senior management team and other company departments
  • Prepare regular managerial reports and analysis across various operating teams, leveraging data automation and data visualization tools wherever possible  
  • Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results, and the company's actual performance compared to the business plans
  • Manage finance team to deliver on key finance team requirements
  • Maintain organization of finance documents and reports
  • Be the liaison for interdepartmental communication and requests to the finance team 

Financial Reporting & Compliance 

  • Oversee all regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance
  • Lead the year end audit process, collaborating with the external independent auditor  
  • Prepare management reporting, including monthly financial reports and analysis for departments and executive team for analysis
  • Prepare financial information for board materials 

Financial Operations 

  • Manage company cash flow, including AR collection, AP management and conversion cycle
  • Manage working capital requirements and ensure AP, AR and inventory are up to date  
  • Manage cash & treasury functions, including approving cash disbursements from the company's payment processor Manage capital asset process, including classification and tracking of different classes of investments
  • Review, assess and implement financial controls to ensure the accuracy of financial information across the company 

Financial Planning & Analysis 

  • Manage capital expenditure planning and reporting
  • Support the annual budgeting process
  • Support the preparation of quarterly forecasts, including cash flows and balance sheet forecasts for cash planning 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Accounting and Financial Analysis: Demonstrated expertise in accounting principles and financial analysis, with a strong ability to provide accurate and insightful financial reporting.
  • Leadership and Communication: Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and drive performance across various departments and teams.
  • Adaptability: Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, with the flexibility to manage evolving priorities and business needs.
  • Attention to Detail: A diligent and meticulous approach to work, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of financial reporting and compliance.
  • Technological Proficiency: Strong background in technology, with a willingness to embrace and learn new financial systems and tools to enhance efficiency and operational performance.
  • CPA Accreditation: Active CPA designation (or equivalent) is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in audit or accounting roles, with a strong track record in financial management.
  • Managerial Experience: Demonstrated experience leading teams, with a strong emphasis on leadership and team development.
