Job Summary

Our custom woodworking shop is seeking a skilled and dedicated furniture framer /maker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have two years of experience (or an education) in furniture and/ or cabinetry making. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively, and a commitment to safety on the job site.

Necessary Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in carpentry, furniture framing, or cabinetry making fields.
  • Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of different materials, finishes, and woodworking techniques.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) regularly throughout the workday.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues on-site.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to follow directions and problem-solve independently as well as with others.
  • A commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of wood finishing is an asset.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings is an asset.
  • Certification or training in relevant skills is a plus, but not mandatory.

Duties

  • Measure, cut, shape, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes and other materials based on technical drawings
  • Safely and effectively assemble components using hand and power tools, such as saws, planers, drills, and sanders.
  • Construct frames for upholstery.
  • Quality assurance - ensure all structures are strong.
  • Restore or repair existing frames when necessary to maintain structural integrity.
  • Perform heavy lifting as required during the framing process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
