About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Off-Campus and Community Experience, the incumbent fosters student success, belonging, and community connection by leading the University's off-campus housing education, student engagement, and neighborhood relations initiatives. The Coordinator develops and delivers programs, resources, and outreach strategies that empower students to make informed housing decisions, build supportive peer networks, and engage meaningfully with campus life and their local communities. Through both individual advising and large-scale engagement initiatives, the incumbent advances safe, inclusive, and connected off-campus living experiences that strengthen student well-being and the University's relationship with the surrounding community.

The Off-Campus Living Coordinator will:

• Develop and maintain educational resources, workshops, and communications that equip students to make informed decisions about living off campus, including understanding rights, responsibilities, and community expectations;
• Advise and support students navigating off-campus living challenges by connecting them with appropriate university and community resources;
• Administer the University's off-campus housing listing service, ensuring accurate, student-friendly information and supporting landlords in listing and maintaining advertisements in accordance with University standards and applicable laws;
• Lead proactive housing-related education and outreach to students, including workshops and communications on tenancy, safety, and positive neighbor relations;
• Provide individualized support, including voluntary mediation and coordination of emergency housing protocols, to assist students experiencing conflict or housing insecurity;
• Promote safe, inclusive, and sustainable living practices that contribute to positive student and neighborhood experiences;
• Incorporate principles of accessibility, inclusion, and equity into housing education and support to ensure resources meet the diverse needs of all students;
• Coordinate orientation and engagement programming for first-year off-campus students, such as leadership of the Brock Society of Off-Campus Students (SOCS) and related transition supports;
• Facilitate opportunities for students to engage in co-curricular experiences, leadership development, and community participation beyond residence;
• Collaborate with colleagues across Student Life and Success and campus partners to ensure off-campus students are represented and included in engagement strategies;
• Build and sustain relationships with municipal partners, landlords, community organizations, and neighbourhood associations to strengthen the student–community experience;
• Develop and implement educational campaigns and outreach initiatives that encourage students to contribute positively to their neighbourhoods and act as responsible community members;
• Advocate for student perspectives in municipal and institutional discussions related to housing, safety, and community well-being;
• Collaborate with campus and community partners to plan coordinated strategies that support student safety and minimize disruption during large community events and celebrations;
• Respond to off-campus issues and complaints, assessing circumstances, providing education or mediation, and contributing to institutional responses that uphold Brock values.

Please note: This position may require occasional evening and weekend availability.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline. The equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered;
• Experience in student affairs, student engagement, housing education, or community relations within a post-secondary or closely related setting;
• Experience working with community partners, landlords, and municipal representatives to build collaborative relationships that advance shared goals;
• Comprehensive understanding of student development theory and practices that support belonging, transition, and engagement among post-secondary students;
• Knowledge of off-campus housing issues, including landlord–tenant relations, rental rights and responsibilities, and municipal regulations related to student living;
• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate educational programs and outreach initiatives that promote student success and positive community engagement;
• Ability to interpret and apply University policies, procedures, and relevant legislation (e.g., Residential Tenancies Act) to guide decision-making and advise students;
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver results within established timelines;
• Proficiency in developing written and digital communications that translate complex information into accessible, student-friendly language;
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, and the ability to embed these principles into program design and student support;
• Adept at building and sustaining relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners through professionalism, empathy, and tact;
• Strong capacity to support, guide, and mentor student leaders, fostering leadership development and teamwork;
• Effective mediation and conflict-resolution skills to address housing, interpersonal, or community-related concerns with fairness and diplomacy;
• Innovative and resourceful, with the ability to anticipate challenges and adapt programs, communications, or processes as needs evolve.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

• Experience related to housing education, tenant rights, or off-campus living services in a post-secondary or community setting;
• Experience supervising or mentoring student leaders or volunteers;
• Experience developing and delivering educational programming or workshops that support student learning, engagement, or transition;
• Experience providing individual guidance or advising to students or clients in a professional context, including referral to appropriate supports;
• Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders or community partners to address shared goals or resolve issues.

Salary and Total Rewards:

• Job Grade K, Salary Scale ($61,286-$99,384);
• Target Hiring Salary: $61,286
• This is a permanent position that includes:

*The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
