Position Summary

The Health and Safety Coordinator supports, implements, and maintains Health and Safety programs across the organization, ensuring compliance with provincial legislation and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and support a positive safety culture.
  • Develop, review, and update Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Implement and monitor safety protocols and best practices.
  • Process employee injury reports and coordinate WCB claims and modified/return-to-work programs.
  • Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Participate in Health and Safety audits and support resolution of action items.
  • Collaborate with Regional Health and Safety Committees.
  • Track, analyze, and report Health and Safety metrics and performance data.
  • Assist with facility inspections and maintenance safety requirements.
  • Maintain safety equipment and supply inventory.
  • Coordinate the Thank You Card Recognition Program.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Health and Safety role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, data entry, and documentation.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

Preferred:

  • OHS certifications (e.g., CRST, CRSP, OHS Certificate).
  • Training in Incident Investigation and Hazard Assessment.
  • Experience in Disability Services or Human Services.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable and adaptable.
