JOB PURPOSE

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with VP – People and Culture. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training and development, performance management, policy implementation, benefits administration, and employment law compliance.

DUTIES

  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Conduct recruitment efforts for all positions, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Handle team member relations issues, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Support performance management processes including annual reviews and goal setting.
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Administer benefits programs including health, dental, disability, and retirement plans.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives to support organizational goals.

This position reports to the Vice President, People and Culture

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to multi-task and organize work priorities
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • CHRP or CPHR designation (or working toward certification).
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and benefits administration.
