FirstLight Home Care Vaughan is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and reliable Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our family and provide exceptional care to clients in York Region. This full-time, live-in position involves working closely with clients to assist with their daily activities while ensuring they feel safe, valued, and supported in the comfort of their own homes.

What You'll Do:

  • Personal Care Assistance: Help clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Light Housekeeping: Perform household tasks, including vacuuming, laundry, dishes, and organizing, to ensure a clean and safe living space.
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and serve nutritious meals tailored to client preferences and dietary needs.
  • Medication Support: Provide reminders for medication and monitor medication schedules to ensure proper adherence.
  • Mobility Assistance: Aid clients with walking, transferring to and from beds, chairs, or wheelchairs, and assist with any mobility challenges.
  • Emotional Support: Offer companionship, engage in meaningful conversations, and provide emotional support to help alleviate feelings of isolation and improve well-being.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Complete daily reports to communicate care activities and observations to the Case Manager and healthcare team.

What We're Looking For:

  • Certification: Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate is required.
  • Language Requirement: Proficiency in Italian (to communicate effectively with certain clients).
  • First Aid/CPR: Current CPR and First Aid Certification preferred but not required.
  • Technology: Access to a mobile phone for time tracking and updating care plans.
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (within 1 year) that is clear of any criminal history or record of the candidate.
  • Minimum of 2 COVID-19 vaccination doses.
  • Valid TB skin test or chest x-ray (within 1 year)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting and client interaction.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to remain calm and efficiently respond to unexpected situations.
  • Commitment to Care: A compassionate, client-centered approach that promotes dignity, independence, and safety.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $2,500.00-$4,000.00 per month
