Medical Office Assistant

Job Overview
Our Clinic in Calgary is seeking a professional, organized, and person-centered Medical Office Assistant to join our team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring the clinic runs smoothly and patients feel supported. We use TELUS Med Access as our EMR system; while experience with this platform is highly preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong administrative background and a quick ability to learn new software.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Coordination: Greet patients, manage the check-in/check-out process, and maintain an inviting waiting area.
Scheduling: Manage complex physician schedules, book appointments, and handle patient reminders.
EMR Management: Utilize Med Access to maintain accurate patient records, update demographics, and manage electronic charts.
Communication: Answer multi-line phones, triage calls, and manage clinic emails and faxes with high confidentiality.
Clinical Support: Prepare examination rooms, take basic patient vitals (as required), and manage the flow of patients.
Administrative Tasks: Process referrals, manage incoming lab results, and handle private/uninsured billing.
Qualifications & Expectations
Education: Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant (MOA) certificate or diploma is preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in a medical clinic setting is an asset.
Software Skills: Proficiency with TELUS Med Access EMR is a significant advantage. Strong general computer skills (Microsoft Office) are essential.
Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication skills with a focus on patient empathy and professional boundaries.
Reliability: Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.50-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
