Tandoor Chef – Job Description

Position: Tandoor Chef Location: Unit F105, 123 Pioneer Drive Kitchener N2P 2A3 Ontario Job Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Tandoor Chef who specializes in preparing authentic Indian and Indo-Pak tandoori dishes. The ideal candidate should be confident working with a traditional clay oven (tandoor) and capable of delivering consistent, high-quality food.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook all tandoor items, including tandoori chicken, naan, roti, kebabs, paneer, and other grilled dishes.

  • Marinate meats and vegetables using authentic recipes.

  • Operate and maintain the tandoor oven, ensuring correct temperature and cleanliness.

  • Monitor cooking times and food quality consistently.

  • Assist in menu planning and introduce new tandoori dishes when required.

  • Ensure kitchen hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness as per standards.

  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to maintain smooth operations during peak hours.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a Tandoor Chef or in a similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, particularly tandoori preparations.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.

  • Ability to stand for long periods and work with high heat.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in preparing Indian breads (naan, garlic naan, roti, kulcha).

  • Ability to multitask and maintain consistency.

  • Creativity in plating and presentation.
