Industrial Electrician

POSITION SUMMARY:

This Industrial Electrician performs electrical, electronic, and mechanical maintenance repair and troubleshooting on the manufacturing equipment and facilities through the use of drawings, schematics and interpretation and knowledge of applicable codes and safety regulations. This position requires commitment to keep up to date with industry developments and have a methodical approach to work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and high-speed packaging machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming will be an asset.
• Install, inspect, and test electrical panels, wiring systems and components for all types of building equipment and machinery
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
• Identify, troubleshoot, and repair problems in industrial electrical wiring and equipment PLCs
• Install, calibrate, and maintain systems that measure production efficiency
• Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair tasks as necessary
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls
• Conduct preventive maintenance programs (Electrical and Mechanical) and keep maintenance records
• May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Leads apprentices and directs them to ensure successful task completion.
• Ensure that all safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
• Must follow all safety protocols with respect to health and safety.
• Other responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION & PREREQUISITES:

• A valid Industrial Electrician license(442A).
• Proof of apprenticeship an asset.
• Any applicable trade related licenses are considered an asset.
• Must be willing to train for missing certifications (fall arrest, aerial lift platform, etc.)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively handle time critical issues and meet deadlines
• Ability to develop and maintain strong rapport with fellow employees and Management.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Experience and/or exposure to the food industry and/or food processing environments is considered an asset for this position
• Must be able to work rotating shifts (If required)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Electrical and Mechanical knowledge
• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Able to read electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
• Exceptional organizational, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SOPs and safety procedures (particular emphasis on lockout procedures)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Majority of time is spent in production areas, which includes a refrigerated environment, oven and cooking area
• Potential local travel (ex: to pick up parts or to service additional buildings)

Pay: $35.00-$46.77 per hour
