Position Overview: The Industrial Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires strong technical skills in PLC programming, sensors, drives, and compliance with ESA standards. The successful candidate will also lead electrical responsibilities in projects and mentor apprentices. Key Responsibilities
· Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and service equipment.
· Read and interpret schematics for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, logic, process flow, and instrumentation diagrams.
· Ensure all electrical requirements meet ESA and OSHA standards.
· Work with sensors, AC/DC motors, and Variable Speed Drives.
· Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems; remove and replace faulty parts. Repair damage, broken, or unsafe equipment to ensure operational safety.
· Follow all Health and Safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
· Ensure all guards and safety equipment are in place and operational.
· Provide a strong presence on the production floor, monitoring equipment for safety, waste, and efficiency risks.
· Attend production meetings to address downtime and line efficiency issues.
· Utilize and record work in CMMS (MaintainX) daily.
· Collaborate with the projects team on electrical aspects of capital projects and upgrades.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
· Mentor and train Electrical Apprentices in trade practices.
· Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills & Qualifications
· Minimum 3–5 years in a manufacturing environment (chimney pipe or metal fabrication preferred).
· Certified 442A Industrial Electrician.
· Experience with 600V/480V/240V 3-phase electrical services and machine controls.
· Familiarity with electrical panels, machine safety systems, and interface systems.
· PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley preferred).
· Experience with robotics (Fanuc, Omron) is an asset.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
· Background in sensor applications and automation systems is an asset.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently.
· Experience supervising and mentoring apprentices.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Valid Driver’s License.
· Ontario Certificate of Qualification – 442A Industrial Electrician.
· Minimum 5 years of industrial/commercial electrical experience.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
· Regularly required to stand for extended periods, lift, climb, push-pull, kneel, crouch, twist, bend, and stoop.
· Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry objects up to 50
· Manual dexterity required for power and hand tools.
· May require working in hot and cold environments.
· Overtime as required.
