The ideal candidate will have:

· CET, P.Eng. or E.I.T.

· Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel.

· Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprints, specifications, schedules, and cost reports.

· Excellent verbal communication skills, with confidence in both outbound and inbound calls.

· Strong written communication skills, including professional correspondence and documentation.

· A self-motivated mindset with strong time management and organizational skills.

· Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

· A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

· Strong negotiating skills with vendors, subtrades, and clients.

Candidates who may not meet every requirement but demonstrate initiative, technical aptitude, and a commitment to long-term growth are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Estimator is responsible for:

· Reviewing and downloading all tender requests and coordinating with Senior Management to determine bid/no-bid decisions and responding to clients accordingly.

· Notifying applicable subtrades (e.g., joist supply, deck install) to ensure inclusion on bid lists.

· Scheduling and coordinating quote start-up and close-out meetings with the General Manager in alignment with tender schedules to allow sufficient management input.

· Reviewing project specifications and identifying scope deviations from company standards or industry norms.

· Preparing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates in accordance with company estimating procedures and systems.

· Obtaining pricing for tender materials and all special-order items for each bid.

· Consulting with department heads (drafting, shop, and field) to validate assumptions, allowances, and constructability.

· Preparing, executing, and submitting quote letters and bid forms.

· Completing required pre-qualifications and/or proposals as part of the tender process.

· Preparing and submitting tender RFIs to obtain required clarifications within specified timeframes.

· Understanding, contributing to, and supporting the continual improvement of the company's estimating systems and processes.

· Maintaining awareness of market trends, key vendors, competitor activity, and general contractor activity to support informed estimating and business decisions.

· Following up on all submitted quotes and maintaining the master quote log.

· Attending and contributing value during pre-award and award meetings with the General Manager.

· Setting up awarded projects for the project team and leading handoff meetings to ensure a clear transfer of scope, pricing, and assumptions.
