Our client is adding a Senior Estimator to their busy and growing team. As a
Senior Estimator
, you will serve as a strategic cornerstone for our Project Development and Operations teams. Your primary objective is to lead the development of comprehensive, high-accuracy cost assessments across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will thrive in high-stakes environments, navigating various delivery models—from
Design-Build
and
Lump Sum
to
Integrated Project Delivery (IPD)
.

This role requires a unique blend of technical mastery and visionary thinking, allowing you to provide everything from high-level conceptual budgeting to detailed final bid analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Precision:
    Execute thorough quantity takeoffs and develop precise unit pricing models for complex construction projects.
  • Strategic Procurement:
    Manage the full lifecycle of subcontracting, including soliciting bids, conducting meticulous quote leveling, and finalizing awards.
  • Stakeholder Liaison:
    Act as a key technical consultant for Clients, Architects, and Engineers to refine cost estimates and propose value-engineering solutions.
  • Risk Management:
    Proactively identify project-specific risks and engineer robust mitigation strategies to protect project margins.
  • Leadership & Mentorship:
    Guide and train junior estimating staff while overseeing collaborative group efforts to ensure department goals are met.
  • Market Intelligence:
    Curate and update our internal database of unit pricing, productivity rates, and supplier relations to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Proposal Excellence:
    Direct the preparation of formal proposals, ensuring all submissions are complete, professional, and delivered ahead of deadlines.

Core Competencies & Expertise

  • Multi-Model Proficiency:
    Expert-level understanding of Construction Management, Design-Build, and Lean construction principles.
  • Technical Fluency:
    Advanced command of
    InEight
    , Bluebeam, OST, and Microsoft Excel. Ability to build logic-based project schedules and logistics plans.
  • Conceptual Design:
    The ability to visualize finished products and derive schematic designs/alternate solutions from minimal client brief data.
  • Team Leadership:
    Proven ability to chair professional meetings, manage multiple concurrent workflows, and lead teams under tight deadlines.
  • Communication:
    Highly polished verbal and written skills for client-facing interviews and contract negotiations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
    A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline. Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or equivalent is highly regarded.
  • Industry Tenure:
    10+ years of dedicated estimating experience within the general construction sector.
  • Operational Background:
    Prior experience as a Project Manager or Coordinator is considered a significant asset.

Leadership Track Record:
Demonstrated success in coaching teams and facilitating collaborative planning sessions.
