Senior Cost Consultant – Senior Electrical Estimator

Who are you?

You are an experienced Senior Estimator with a minimum of 7 years post-graduate experience looking for the next step or are currently undertaking a similar role in a similar environment

As a Senior Consultant – Electrical Estimator , you will be involved in:

• Development of cost estimating procedures
• Manage the development of cost estimates for projects from concept through execution
• Oversee and manage cost estimators and other project controls personnel, tasked with delivering cost estimating services
• Review and validate cost estimates prepared by internal estimators, contractors, and technical disciplines internal and external to the client organization
• Coordinate costing of complex projects
• Benchmark for validation and target-setting on major projects
• Participate in cost risk analysis using the appropriate method for the estimate
• For each estimate class, determine (from existing suite of tools and techniques):
  • Appropriate estimating techniques (benchmarking, parametric modelling, detailed estimating, etc.)
  • Appropriate estimating tool (client tools, customized estimating spreadsheets, industry estimating software, benchmarking, etc.)
  • Appropriate methodology for dealing with uncertainties (standard contingency factors, probabilistic estimating techniques, etc.)
  • Participate in updates of in-house estimating tools
• Maintain central feedback and learning on cost estimating from prospects and projects and contribute to updating of "Best Practices" in estimating
• Quality Control – Ensuring compliance with quality standards and participation in ISO audits
• Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
• Leading teams, ensuring that they deliver on all of the above accountabilities

• A recognized relevant university degree in Engineering / Construction Management
• Membership in relevant professional organizations is beneficial
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in electrical cost estimating positions across all project phases in Oil & Gas or Mining. Estimate levels are from concept to detailed.
• Electrical site experience would be an asset
• Knowledge and proficiency with cost estimating tools such as InEight , Aspentech is is beneficial
• Experience of working in a consultancy or owner organization.
• Experience of working in the Canadian construction market.
• Experienced user of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
