As a
Soils Summer Student,
you will join our
Calgary or
Edmonton, Alberta
offices as part of our Soils team for a
4 or 8-month term
starting
May 2026
. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of soil, vegetation and wetlands projects with responsibilities as follows:
- Active participation in maintaining Montrose's strong safety culture
- Assist with the execution of soils and vegetation surveys
- Assist with field survey data collection
- Travel, often to remote locations, will be required to carry out field programs.
What We Are Looking For
- Must be enrolled in terrestrial ecology, biology, environmental science, renewable resource management or similar technical or undergraduate program at a recognized post-secondary institution
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- A valid class 5 driver's license with no restrictions.
- Experience with off-highway vehicles (i.e., ARGO, UTV) and trailer towing would be considered an asset
- Cares about their safety and the safety of others
- Brings knowledge of terrestrial sciences and assessment practices
- Works easily in a team
- Is thoughtful, thorough and inquisitive in completing office and field tasks
- Has energy and desire to support others and respond to the changing needs of a dynamic environment
