Accounting Manager

We are currently searching for an Accounting Manager to support the financial operations of our client, Stone Tile International Inc. and its Group Companies. This individual will contribute by assisting in the delivery of timely and accurate financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Reporting to the Director of Accounting and working closely with the CFO, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in maintaining accounting systems, supporting financial audits, implementing internal controls, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. This position requires a hands-on and detail-oriented professional capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger review, journal entries, inventory, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and statutory reporting.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Prepare and analyze departmental financial reports on a regular basis.
- Support the development of strategic financial analysis to guide decision-making across departments.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders as required.
- Assist with foreign exchange management and related reporting.
- Collaborate with the Controller and auditors in the preparation of corporate tax filings and audit schedules.
- Help implement and monitor internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance on accounting systems, financial reporting, and record keeping.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and reporting to financial institutions.
- Assist with financial performance monitoring and report generation versus budget targets.
- Participate in systems implementation projects and other finance-related initiatives.
- Support collection and receivables management processes as needed.
- Help supervise and support junior accounting staff, including training and development under the direction of the Controller.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- University degree in Business, Accounting or Finance. A professional accounting designation (CPA) or candidate in progress is preferred.
- Strong foundational knowledge of corporate accounting and financial management.
- Familiarity with Federal and Provincial tax regulations and financial reporting requirements.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience supporting audits or working within audited environments.
- Analytical and detail-oriented with exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting principles and applications.
- Advanced Excel and strong working knowledge of MS Office.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Experience leading or mentoring junior team members is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
