Ready to get your career on a roll? Global Mining Products, manufacturer of GMI Wheels, seeks an enthusiastic mechanical engineer to join our Langley, BC-based company.

We are a global steel wheel manufacturer and supplier for equipment such as large mining haulers, loaders, underground mining machines, container handlers and much more

The Mechanical Engineer is a critical member of our product development team and will work on a variety of products, many of which are manufactured in Langley in our ISO 9001:2015 certified fabrication, welding and machining facilities.

If you know your way around CNC machines and can talk knowledgeably about them, and have a keen aptitude for metalwork whether it's machining, welding or fabrication, you'll be right at home in our very hands-on workplace

Salary is negotiable based on experience.

  • This is not a remote work position.
  • Only applicants living in the Langley, Surrey or Greater Vancouver area or able to relocate prior to the starting date will be considered.
  • This position requires periodic travel. A valid passport is required and applicants must not be restricted from entering the United States.

What You Bring:

  • A degree in mechanical engineering.
  • At least 5 years experience in a manufacturing or production environment (engaged with shop floor activities).
  • Training in a lean-manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Solidworks or similar 3D-modelling software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively and operate as a valued team member in support of manufacturing goals.
  • A continuous improvement approach to all aspects of work.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop new products, with input from our senior management, product experts and customers.
  • Update and improve existing drawings and products.
  • Collaborate with our Engineering and Production team, providing input on drawings and approval, as product familiarity strengthens.
  • Identify and assist in throughput improvements, including designing and improving processes, assembly jigs, tools and fixtures.
  • Aid in manufacturing process improvement planning.
  • Ensure Quality Management processes and controls are met, quickly dealing with non-conformance parts and equipment, and implementing quick, effective solutions to WIP.
  • Participate in development and implementation of ISO requirements.
  • Embrace a continuous improvement approach to all aspects of work.
