Engineer BC, Canada BC Building Science Ltd. Full time $60,000 - $80,000 per year

What we are looking for:

BC Building Science seeks a Mechanical Engineer or Technologist to join our successful team in Metro Vancouver. The main role involves energy audit / modelling, and commissioning of buildings in design and construction phases. The successful candidate will be working with a team of mechanical engineers supervised by professional engineers.

What we expect from you:

  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma of Technology in Building Mechanical Systems.
  • Minimum two-years of relevant experience in building design / construction.
  • Design and field experience with building mechanical systems (e.g. HVAC design / field review / testing / commissioning).
  • Experience with energy modelling using hourly software tools is a bonus (e.g. IES-VE).
  • Good understanding of local building codes, construction methods / materials, and detailed drawings.
  • Detailed-oriented for engineering calculations, project documentations, and site observations.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English – written and oral.

What you are going to do:

  • Perform energy audit & commissioning of building energy systems during design and construction / renovation phases.
  • Review details of construction work by contractors and perform test & verification of building systems.
  • Perform thermal / energy / lifecycle analysis and prepare technical reports.
  • Communication and ongoing design and construction correspondence with related parties.
