Our employer is seeking an Executive Director (Remote, Toronto GTA) who will be responsible for developing and executing an outreach strategy for Canada. This role involves identifying potential donors, primarily through networking, and fostering relationships both individually and by connecting these prospective partners and donors with the team. The responsibilities also include leading an annual campaign, securing major gifts, and overseeing fundraising event planning and execution.

Responsibilities: 

Work closely with the COO Diaspora to develop a fund development strategy for the Canadian region aimed at increasing revenues to support the organization's strategic goals. Identify, source, and cultivate corporate, community, and individual prospects aligned with the organization's fundraising priorities.

Craft and passionately communicate a compelling case for giving to maximize income generation. Enhance brand visibility by marketing and implementing new programs designed to expand the donor base, specifically targeting audiences such as young leaders, stakeholders, and potential supporters not yet engaged with the organization.

Create new revenue streams, broadening fundraising efforts to include major gifts (individual, foundation, and corporate), annual giving, and events. Oversee proper recording and stewardship of all gifts to ensure donor commitments are honored. Strengthen relationships with existing donors, deepening their connection to the organization and veterans in Israel.

Develop and manage various fundraising campaigns and activities to ensure strategic goals are met on time. Supervise the planning and execution of special fundraising events. Assist in managing administrative functions related to the Canadian operations.

Foster strong relationships with Board Members and local volunteers to support all aspects of the organization's activities. Oversee governance activities related to Canada. Stay informed about significant developments and trends in Canadian philanthropy.

Propose and manage the annual budget, evaluating financial performance against strategic goals, and reviewing financial forecasts throughout the year. Provide regular updates on financial status, including projected expenses and income for all fundraising initiatives. Collaborate with the organization's auditor to ensure accurate financial reporting and preparation of year-end financial statements.

Manage all financial and human resources, ensuring adherence to sound operational practices and compliance with Canadian charitable giving legislation. Serve as an effective spokesperson and ambassador at the local, national, and international levels.

Qualifications:

Successful completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited educational institution. Equivalent related education, training and experience may also be considered.

A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a strategic senior level position that involved building and strengthening an organization or company.

Strong experience with revenue generation, fundraising, major gift cultivation and solicitation, either as a professional or lay leader gained either in the private or charitable sector.

Highly developed interpersonal, networking, cultivation stewardship and relationship building skills, and comfort working with high-net-worth donors, foundations and other grant awarding organizations.

Demonstrated success with fundraising strategy and execution including major gifts, direct marketing, planned giving, events and prospect research.

Solid business skills including strategic planning and execution, budgeting, leadership of operations, execution of plans, evaluation, administration and accountability to deliver results.

An entrepreneurial self-starter with a proven ability to balance multiple projects with limited resources and overlapping deadlines.

Superior written and oral communication skills. A credible, motivational and articulate leader who can think quickly on their feet, work and communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues at all levels, including board members, donors, external stakeholders, media and the community at large.

Knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial legislation affecting charities and not-for-profit organizations.

Maintained a positive and transparent relationship globally, while enhancing the organization's public profile in Canada. 

Strengthened the Board and volunteer involvement in fundraising and attracted new members and donors to the organization.
