Board of Directors, Quality in Lifelong Learning (QUILL) Network
Type:
Renewable Yearly Contract, 35 hours per week (Position is contingent upon annual funding renewal; QUILL has received annual funding renewal for 30 years)
Compensation Range:
$52,000 - $60,000, commensurate with education and experience
Benefits:
Primarily remote work with occasional in-person meetings; opportunity to flex work hours; health spending account

Overview
QUILL Learning Network is a non-profit, regional learning network that supports and promotes quality skills development and upgrading opportunities for adults in Grey, Bruce, Huron, Perth, and South Georgian Bay. The QUILL Board of Directors is seeking a progressive and creative Executive Director to continue these efforts, while overseeing the organization's operations are aligned to its mission, vision, and strategic plan.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is a forward planning and strategic thinker who is passionate about the power of adult education/upgrading programs to open doors and transform lives. They are committed to supporting local Get SET (Skills, Education, Training) program service providers through training and resource development, research projects, partnership enhancement, and local planning and coordination of services to improve organizational capacity and enable all adults to meet training, employment and other goals.
The Executive Director will reside in or be willing to relocate to QUILL region (Huron, Perth, Bruce, Grey or South Georgian Bay) to maintain local community connections and support local Get SET program service providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support of local Get SET program (formerly Literacy & Basic Skills) programs/staff
- Annual business planning, including completion of set deliverables and literacy service plans
- Writing and submission of reports in adherence to ministry (funder) requirements
- Operational responsibilities including: Program/Project Planning and Management, Human Resources Planning and Management, Financial Planning and Risk Management, Governance and Board Administration, Proposal Writing
- Community Relations and Advocacy of Get SET programs
Required Skills/Qualifications
- Post secondary education or equivalent experience working in adult education
- Strong knowledge of the adult literacy field and adult education principles
- Strong knowledge of the QUILL region and familiarity with community organizations, Employment Ontario services, and other resources supporting local adults (e.g. mental health, housing, employment)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (e.g. written, verbal, listening, empathy, teamwork, conflict resolution, leadership)
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong digital skills and proficiency with various computer programs
- Knowledge of financial management and reporting requirements for non-profit organizations
- Experience with board dynamics, strategic planning and non-profit leadership
- Project management and proposal writing experience
