Front-Line Behaviour Support Staff
We have one opportunity for a part-time, awake, night staff position with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts.
About Us
At The Behaviour Company, we operate a therapeutic group home for youth with complex mental health needs, developmental disabilities, and behavioural challenges. We are a trauma-informed and evidence-based team grounded in compassion, clinical excellence, and client dignity.
Position Overview
We are hiring Implementers (Developmental Support Workers) who bring more than crisis response—individuals who understand trauma, value emotional regulation, and have the resilience to engage youth with complex needs. You will work directly with clients aged 12–17 in our group home and the community, implementing individualized support strategies under the supervision of a clinical team.
This role is ideal for someone with education in mental health, psychology, or psychotherapy, experience supporting teenagers with aggressive behaviours, and a trauma-attuned lens.
What You'll Do
- Implement trauma-informed behavioural and emotional support plans.
- Support youth during dysregulation and use approved safety techniques when needed.
- Engage in therapeutic rapport-building through conversation, games, shared activities, and co-regulation.
- Take detailed data and documentation to support treatment planning.
- Support functional life skills including hygiene, routines, and meal preparation.
- Attend daily team huddles and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
- Respond to emotional and physical crises with safety, empathy, and consistency.
- Uphold house routines including cleaning and basic home upkeep as part of team culture.
What You Bring
Post-secondary education in mental health, psychology, addictions, psychotherapy, child & youth work, or a related field
Experience working with high-risk youth, aggressive behaviours, and/or clients with developmental or psychiatric diagnoses
Understanding of trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation, and relationship-based care
Comfort using containment techniques when absolutely necessary (training provided)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Self-awareness, professionalism, and teamwork
Valid First Aid/CPR & vulnerable sector screening (preferred)
SMG Crisis Training (or willingness to be trained)
Minimum 1 year experience in a group home setting
