Location: Edmonton Head Office

The Talent Development Specialist leads programs and initiatives across KAG Canada with a focus on professional development, career growth opportunities, skills advancement and best in class training while driving consistent structure for employees and leaders to perform their roles at an exemplary level.


 About the position: 

New Employee Onboarding and Training  

  • Create/update, continuously evaluate and improve orientation programs for all employees covering safety protocols, company culture, policies, and procedures. 
  • Collaborate with Driver Training team on training process and content for our Professional Truck Drivers.  
  • Monitor new hires, and their journey as new employees in the early cycle of their career, ensuring completion of assigned training in the LMS. 

Workforce Planning and Talent Identification  

  • Partner with company leaders to understand the changes in the business, and future opportunities to establish forecasts of upcoming career growth opportunities or general staffing requirements. 
  • Identify key roles (subject matter experts or leadership) and map out career pathways to advancement along with the skills and experience required for the positions. 
  • Support succession planning, and ongoing upkeep of talent pipeline and all development or action plans associated with the process. 

Skills Development and Training 

  • Evaluate and understand specific needs within the business and develop and deliver content according to; collective requirements for KAG Canada, department or terminal level requirements, and individual growth. 
  • Lead in person, and online training sessions.  
  • Provide group or one-on-one coaching as required. Engage with employees interested in having discussions about their position and future opportunities. 
  • Stay informed about all funding available for training and development through third parties, and government organizations. 
  • Ensure regulatory training needs are met, and deliver reoccurring training for staff as required. 

Performance Management 

  • Enhance and develop strategies that align to core values and organizational goals to manage and measure performance.
  • Help leaders set goals and KPIs from a department, position or individual perspective. Coach and provide feedback on progress. 
  • Oversee process of a collaborative program between leaders and employees that prioritize structured and formal feedback to instill growth and success in a results driven environment.     


 What you bring: 

  • Completion of post-secondary studies or formalized training in adult learning, human resource development or like programing.  
  • The successful candidate must come from a background with past focus on researching and building training content from a multi discipline perspective (regulatory training, professional development, skills development, job process training).  
  • Understanding effective training techniques, and ability to research and bring new ideas forward.  
  • Must be well organized and able to multi-task in a fast paced, demanding teamwork environment. 
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills. 
  • Experience with Microsoft programs; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Forms and Publisher.
  • Adaptability to learn new systems and programs (LMS, software to create content).
