Scope of Work

A growing construction company specializing in high-quality residential and multi-residential projects in the Edmonton area is seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Site Superintendent to oversee all aspects of on-site operations for multi-family, apartment-style, 4+ storey, wood frame construction projects from start to finish.

The successful candidate will ensure that projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Management: Oversee daily on-site operations, including scheduling, coordination, and supervision of trades and subcontractors.

  • Project Execution: Ensure all construction activities align with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.

  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high-quality standards through inspections and timely resolution of discrepancies.

  • Safety Compliance: Enforce health and safety regulations and foster a culture of safety on site.

  • Resource Management: Manage materials, equipment, and workforce efficiently to prevent delays and cost overruns.

  • Reporting: Provide regular progress reports to the Construction Manager and project stakeholders, addressing milestones and potential challenges.

  • Team Collaboration: Promote effective communication among project teams, clients, and partners.

General Duties
  • Supervise daily field operations in compliance with company policies and safety standards.

  • Coordinate subcontractors and trades to ensure timely project completion.

  • Monitor progress and make schedule or resource adjustments as needed.

  • Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to project drawings, codes, and quality expectations.

  • Collaborate with project management on budgeting, procurement, and resource allocation.

  • Review and interpret schematics and blueprints to guide construction activities.

  • Assist with estimating and bidding processes when required.

  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders regarding progress, challenges, and milestones.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a Site Superintendent overseeing multi-family, 4-storey (or higher) wood frame residential projects with parkades.

  • Strong understanding of local building codes, OH&S standards, and permitting requirements.

  • Proven leadership, organization, and team management skills.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management tools/software.

  • Valid Class 5 drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.

  • Skilled in reading blueprints and schematics.

  • Experience in budgeting and quality control; estimating experience considered an asset.

Physical & Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and safely climb ladders or stairs.

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed boots and hard hats is mandatory.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required by project schedules.
