Investment Accountant
to join its Vancouver-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build technical expertise in real estate debt, investment accounting, and financial reporting within a sophisticated, high-performing environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Investment Accounting leadership team, the Investment Accountant will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate accounting and financial reporting for a diverse portfolio of real estate debt investments. The role offers significant cross-functional exposure, working closely with Operations, Legal, Valuations, Corporate Accounting, and Tax.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and verify the completeness and accuracy of daily investment transactions
  • Perform month-end close activities including reconciliations, accruals, and amortizations
  • Prepare monthly subledger, general ledger reconciliations, and supporting working papers
  • Reconcile shares, holdings, and transactions for pooled funds and segregated portfolios
  • Prepare valuation and FX roll-up entries for funds and related entities
  • Support quarterly and annual financial statements, including disclosures and working papers
  • Respond to inquiries from internal teams, clients, and auditors
  • Ensure adherence to financial controls, accounting policies, and reporting standards
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc assignments as required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Pursuing (or intending to pursue) a CPA designation
  • 0–2 years of accounting experience; financial reporting experience an asset
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Understanding of GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience in investment accounting and/or mortgage investments considered an asset
  • Proficiency with Excel and the Microsoft suite; PowerBI experience an advantage
  • Experience with Yardi ERP is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
