Security Installation Field Technician

Hamilton Tech Source is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Installation Technician to join our team. We specialize in security camera and alarm systems, networking and Wi-Fi wiring, audio/visual installations, and access control systems. Our work is diverse, hands-on, and never the same day twice.

About the Role
The ideal candidate is a skilled and motivated technician who can manage installations from start to finish while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and customer service. You will work on both residential and commercial projects, independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure security cameras, alarm systems, networking, and Wi-Fi systems
- Plan and execute installations from start to finish, including:
- Determining camera placement
- Selecting clean and efficient wiring routes
- Programming systems
- Educating clients on system operation
- Perform rough-in wiring for new construction and retrofit projects
- Install and configure indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi access points
- Install and support audio/visual systems, including:
- TV Mount Installations
- Home theatres
- In-wall and outdoor speakers
- Projectors
- Install structured cabling infrastructure (data, connectors, patching, and testing)
- Terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot network wiring
- Conduct system testing and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams (asset)
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations and system configurations
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to meet technical and scheduling requirements
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful worksite at all times
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience installing network security cameras and alarm systems
(experience with Unifi, Dahua, Hikvision, UNV, , DSC preferred)
- Experience working on both residential and commercial job sites (mandatory)
- Strong understanding of construction methods for proper cable fishing and equipment mounting
- Solid computer and networking skills
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Willingness to learn new technologies and installation methods
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
Physical & Safety Requirements
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders up to 20 ft and lifts)
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Committed to safety standards at all times
- Clean driver's abstract required
Assets
- Working at Heights certification
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certification
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
- Residing within 30 minutes of Hamilton, Ontario
