Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, ON, for an Access Control/security Technician. The responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing automated and access control and door systems. The technician will troubleshoot electrical systems, ensure all equipment functions safely and efficiently, and conduct regular maintenance checks. The role requires diagnosing and resolving technical issues, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining detailed service records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve issues with door mechanisms and access control systems.

  • Effectively explain complex issues to clients who may not have a technical background.

  • Drive to customer sites to provide on location troubleshooting and repair.

  • Adhering to safety protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards and building codes.

  • Precision in measuring, cutting, and installing components and controls.

  • A service background with Access control or security systems.

Qualifications


• Basic knowledge of electronics


• Relay logic


• Network systems


• Electronics background and electrical design


• Low voltage controls background


• Door Access background required

Experience in Electrical Maintenance, working with Electrical Equipment, and handling Low-voltage systems.

Proficiency in Troubleshooting and resolving electrical and technical issues.

Knowledge in Electrical Engineering and expertise in handling electrical systems and components.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Valid driver's license and the ability to travel locally for on-site work.

Certification or diploma in Electrical Technology or a related field is preferred.

Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in the electrical, access control, security and door system industry.

Familiarity with:

o RBH – Axiom, Atom, Integra32

o Genetec Systems

o Centrak- Elpas

o Stanley/Securitas Healthcare

o Axis Network

o Senstar

Experience with:

o Mag locks, Keypads, Software upgrades, Sensors, switches, controls, Relays and control hardware

o Security (CCTV)

o Cameras

o Security software


• Preferred Certification/training:

o Access control product certification (various manufacturers)

o Electronics
