About the Role
Tackpoint is looking for a Technical Buyer to help build and strengthen our supply chain as we continue to grow.
This is a hands-on, technical role for someone who enjoys working in the details — materials, specifications, inventory data, supplier performance, certifications, and lead times — and who wants to help design the purchasing and inventory systems that support a manufacturing organization.
This is not a passive purchasing or PO-processing role.
It's a builder role for someone who wants real ownership and the opportunity to grow with the business.
What You'll Do
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, tooling, consumables, and outsourced services
- Analyze RFQs with attention to specifications, lead times, risk, and total cost
- Create, manage, and follow up on purchase orders to ensure on-time, in-full delivery
- Track open POs and proactively escalate risks that may impact production
- Research and onboard new suppliers and support supplier performance improvement
Inventory Planning & Control
- Own inventory accuracy and integrity within the ERP system
- Ensure sufficient raw material inventory to support production while avoiding excess stock
- Establish and maintain calculated reorder points, order quantities, and safety stock levels
- Apply inventory best practices such as EOQ and demand-based planning where appropriate
- Monitor inventory trends and proactively address shortages or overstock risks
- Support and coordinate cycle counts and inventory discrepancy resolution
Technical & Quality Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings and material specifications
- Review and maintain material certifications (e.g., mill test reports)
- Support ISO 9001 purchasing, inventory, and quality processes
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Estimating, and Shipping & Receiving
- Support non-standard jobs by coordinating material readiness and supplier timing
- Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding inventory status and material risks
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and supplier data in the ERP system
- Analyze usage, lead times, and supplier performance to support better decisions
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in purchasing and inventory processes and propose improvements
What We're Looking For
You'll be a strong fit if you:
- Are technically curious and comfortable working with data and specifications
- Enjoy getting into the details and building systems that work
- Are highly organized and reliable, with strong follow-through
- Are comfortable using ERP systems and Excel
- Take ownership and are willing to step beyond a narrow job description when needed
- Want to grow your skills and responsibility as the company grows
Preferred Experience & Background
- 2–5 years experience in purchasing, inventory planning, materials management, or manufacturing operations
- Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Post-secondary education in supply chain, engineering technology, manufacturing technology, or a related field is an asset
- Familiarity with inventory planning concepts (EOQ, reorder points, safety stock) is an asset
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or quality systems is an asset
Why Join Tackpoint?
- Real ownership and impact — your work directly affects operations and delivery
- Exposure to technical materials, suppliers, and manufacturing processes
- Opportunity to build and improve purchasing and inventory systems, not just follow them
- A role designed to grow into senior buyer or supply chain leadership as the organization scales
- Practical, collaborative, no-nonsense work environment
- RRSP plan
- New modern building
- High-quality equipment
- Great benefits
- Competitive wages
- Regular reviews
- Work boot allowance
- Prescription safety glasses program
If you're looking for a technically grounded role where you can take ownership, build systems, and grow your supply chain skills in a manufacturing environment, we'd like to hear from you.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Dental care
- Employee assistance program
- Extended health care
- On-site parking
- Paid time off
- RRSP match
- Vision care
Application question(s):
- Do you have experience working with ERP-based purchasing and inventory systems? If yes, which ones?
- Have you worked in a manufacturing environment? If yes, briefly describe your role.
- Are you comfortable working directly with technical drawings, specs, and certifications?
- Have you worked directly with suppliers to resolve delivery, quality, or certification issues?
- Are you legally entitled to work in Canada?
- Are you okay with us conducting pre-employment background checks/screenings?
