The Labour Relations Manager is a key advisor responsible for managing all labour relations across supply chain operations. This role provides expert guidance on unionized workforce matters, including collective bargaining, collective agreements, grievance resolution, disciplinary actions, and arbitration processes. The Labour Relations Manager partners with senior leaders to ensure consistent application of labour policies, compliance with employment legislation, and the execution of labour relations strategies that support operational goals and foster positive workplace relationships. Operating with a high level of discretion and influence, this role addresses complex and sensitive labour issues while contributing to the development of a fair, collaborative, and performance-oriented culture.
Please note that this Colleague will be expected to be onsite 4 days at our head office in Brampton.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for labour relations matters, providing guidance and interpretation of collective agreements to supply chain and human resources leaders.
- Build strong partnerships with supply chain leadership and union representatives to support labour relations strategies and address workforce challenges proactively.
- Assist in the administration of grievances, disciplinary actions, and arbitration proceedings, ensuring processes are fair, consistent, and compliant with legal and organizational requirements.
- Provide coaching and advice to management on employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management in a unionized environment.
- Develop and deliver labour relations training and education sessions to management and HR teams.
- Collaborate with HR, payroll, safety, and benefits teams to resolve employee and operational issues efficiently.
- Lead collective bargaining negotiations; support large scale complex bargaining, analyze potential impact of contract provisions and advise senior management; implement administer the results of labor negotiations.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities in labour relations and recommend solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Support corporate labour relations projects and initiatives, contributing to continuous improvement and alignment with company objectives.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive labour and employee matters.
What You'll Need:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of direct experience in labour relations role including leading labour negotiations and participating in labour strategy development.
- In-depth knowledge of labour legislation and collective bargaining principles applicable in Canada.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build credibility and inspire confidence at all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and influence decision-making at multiple organizational levels.
- Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to apply labour relations expertise to support business objectives.
- Effective conflict resolution and mediation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with management, employees, and union representatives.
- Results-oriented with a focus on compliance, fairness, and operational effectiveness.
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity in managing sensitive and confidential matters.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel across Canada
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset
