Education Coordinator
in a part-time contract capacity.
Under the general direction of the Executive Director & Artistic Director, and direct supervision of the
Education Manager
, the Education Coordinator (EC)
supports the administration and operations of the Education program at Workman Arts.
The EC works with the Education Manager to create and grow interdisciplinary education and professional development offerings for members that enhance Workman Arts' mandate to support artists with lived mental health and/or addictions experiences. The EC assists in the planning and implementation of all educational programming, including the end of year showcase and any public programming. The role requires liaising with instructors, active listeners, Workman Arts staff, and Workman Arts members. The EC works collaboratively with our team and may perform other duties as required.
The role is part-time
( 14
hours per week)
, mostly on-site, with some occasional weekend and evening work required. There may be moderate physical activity required for classroom set up.
The Education Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
- Supporting with course preparation and registration
- Supporting the soliciting and hiring of instructors and active listeners
- Providing guidance and support to program participants and artist members interested in accessing the Education Program and courses
- Supporting with the creation of the course catalogue and course schedule each term
- Supports the implementation of access services for instructors and members in all education programming
- Supporting public programming related to the education department
- Supporting the planning and execution of the end of year showcase
- Supports setting up classrooms or a virtual learning environment (e.g. zoom)
- Assisting with conflict resolution in conversation with the Education Manager and other staff
- Attending classes when necessary
- Assisting with the creation and the dissemination of member feedback systems (eg. surveys)
- Bringing any issues/conflict with members to the attention of the Education Manager
- When on-site, working with other staff to handle walk-in inquiries from the public and members.
- Collaborating with other staff when appropriate.
- Additional tasks as required.
Core Competencies for Success:
- Knowledge of professional standards in arts educational settings;
- Ability to determine the needs, interests, and priorities of the Workman Arts community as they relate to promoting its programs and services with a focus on inclusion, equity and diversity;
- Experience in program planning, implementation, delivery, and coordination;
- Knowledge of evaluation and assessment tools and techniques;
- Self Management – works independently with minimal supervision;
- Patience and Empathy – begins from a place of curiosity and patience in connecting with and supporting a broad community of artists;
- Respect – for the expertise and agency in each artist's lived experience;
- Community values – prioritizing community strength and support over traditional clinical frameworks.
Required:
- Degree or training or equivalent experience in Arts Administration, Community Arts, Arts Education, Fine Arts or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of progressive, professional field experience in an arts, culture, social service-related environment.
- Strong administrative skills with experience using spreadsheets for data entry, tracking, and reporting
.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience with conflict resolution, de-escalation, mediation and trauma-informed, anti-sanist care.

is a part-time position at Workman Arts. It consists of a one year contract with 3 months of probation.

hours per week; including occasional evenings and weekends.

: This is an in-person role at a fully accessible workplace in downtown Toronto; there may be occasional opportunities to perform some admin work remotely.
