Site Supervisor – Steel Structure Project | 1-Year Contract | Newmarket, ON

Summary

HMA Construction Inc. is looking for a dedicated and experienced Site Supervisor to oversee the daily on-site operations of a steel structure project in Newmarket, Ontario. This is a one-year contract position, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure the project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate has strong experience supervising structural steel work, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and site coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Oversee subcontractors and trades to ensure proper installation of steel structure components and related works.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and safety meetings; enforce company and industry safety standards.
  • Track progress and report daily site activities, delays, and issues to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to project drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate deliveries, materials, and equipment required on-site.
  • Assist in resolving technical and construction challenges as they arise.
  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite, promoting a culture of professionalism and efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, consultants, and clients as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Site Supervisor in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Steel structure experience is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of structural drawings, site coordination, and sequencing of steel works.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in reporting and documentation (Procore or similar tools is an asset).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel daily to the Newmarket site.
