Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Scribd Full time US$118,000 - US$184,000 per year
About The Company:

At Scribd (pronounced "scribbed"), our mission is to spark human curiosity. Join our team as we create a world of stories and knowledge, democratize the exchange of ideas and information, and empower collective expertise through our four products: Everand, Scribd, Slideshare, and Fable.

We support a culture where our employees can be real and be bold; where we debate and commit as we embrace plot twists; and where every employee is empowered to take action as we prioritize the customer.

When it comes to workplace structure, we believe in balancing individual flexibility and community connections.  It's through our flexible work benefit, Scribd Flex, that employees – in partnership with their manager – can choose the daily work-style that best suits their individual needs. A key tenet of Scribd Flex is our prioritization of intentional in-person moments to build collaboration, culture, and connection. For this reason, occasional in-person attendance is required for all Scribd employees, regardless of their location.

So what are we looking for in new team members? Well, we hire for "GRIT". The textbook definition of GRIT is demonstrating the intersection of passion and perseverance towards long term goals. At Scribd, we are inspired by the potential that this can unlock, and ask each of our employees to pursue a GRIT-ty approach to their work. In a tactical sense, GRIT is also a handy acronym that outlines the standards we hold ourselves and each other to.  Here's what that means for you: we're looking for someone who showcases the ability to set and achieve Goals, achieve Results within their job responsibilities, contribute Innovative ideas and solutions, and positively influence the broader Team through collaboration and attitude.

About the team & role

Design plays a central role in how we bring Scribd's mission to life, turning complexity into clarity and helping millions of people learn, explore, and share every day.

Now we're reimagining what credibility and creativity mean in the age of AI—where information is everywhere but true understanding is rare.

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer who loves solving complex problems, brings ideas to life through thoughtful design, and thrives at the intersection of strategy and craft. You'll design experiences that make credibility visible, comprehension effortless, and contribution inspiring—working across mobile, web, and AI-powered experiences.

You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners from early exploration through launch, shaping product direction through insight, creativity, and craft.

We take our work seriously, but never ourselves. If you like friendly debates, shared ownership, communicating via emojis, and the satisfaction of making something complex feel simple, you'll probably love it here.

What you'll do

  • Shape the user experience. Work with cross-functional partners to define problems, connect insights to strategy, and turn ideal experiences into testable solutions.

  • Design end-to-end. Move fluidly between scrappy prototypes and polished UI, bringing the right fidelity at the right time to make complex ideas feel simple.

  • Balance data and intuition. Collaborate with Research and Analytics to test, learn, and measure impact, and know when to trust your gut.

  • Collaborate for cohesion. Work with fellow designers to keep the system clear, consistent, and aligned with our shared vision.

  • Raise the bar. Contribute to systems, rituals, and critique culture that make our collective work better.

What you'll bring

  • 6+ years solving complex problems, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

  • A portfolio that shows strategic thinking, measurable impact, and visual polish.

  • The ability to turn ambiguity into action by asking questions and defining clear next steps.

  • A systems mindset—designing with the bigger picture in mind.

  • Curiosity and collaboration. You build momentum by bringing people along and see feedback as fuel.

  • Comfort balancing research, data, and intuition in your design decisions.

  • Confidence through change—you handle ambiguity with steadiness and humor.

  • Fluency in Figma and modern prototyping tools that help you think and communicate ideas clearly.

  • A genuine curiosity about how people learn, share, and make meaning from information.

Bonus points for

  • Experience with UGC, search/SEO, or recommendations.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted experiences, especially where clarity, control, and trust matter.

  • Appreciation for our mix of curiosity, collaboration, and dad jokes.

Why you'll love it here

We're a curious, collaborative crew who love debating big ideas, and the occasional (okay, constant) bad pun. We're opinionated about craft, generous with feedback, and united by a shared curiosity for how design can change the way people understand information.

You'll find:

  • Meaningful, user-centered problems to solve.

  • Strong partners who care deeply about building great experiences and challenge us to make the work better.

  • A culture that celebrates wins, learns from misses, and laughs through both.

  • Critiques that feel more like conversations than presentations.

We design like we read—curiously, collaboratively, and with a strong appreciation for great storytelling.

How to apply

Send us your resume and portfolio with at least 2-3 case studies that show the impact your work has made, how you think and what you've shipped. We'd especially love to see examples where your designs made something complex feel effortless.
