Dumas is looking for a detail-orientated tax specialist to be responsible for tax-related tasks. The tax specialist's responsibilities include preparing all tax compliance, assisting in audits, and responding to tax correspondence.

To be successful as a tax specialist, you should be up-to-date with the latest technologies which assist in accounting duties, have an understanding of big data systems, and good communication skills. Ultimately, a top-notch tax specialist should have strong analytical skills, pay attention to detail, and the ability to manage time efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor the estimating team.
  • Develop group resourcing strategies to ensure the needs of the business are met.
  • Manage estimating proposals and tender process to ensure that all project objectives are met within specified deadlines.
  • Review of drawings, designs, specifications and commercial / contractual documentation for all business opportunities.
  • Prepare and develop comprehensive cost estimates and schedules from first principles and corresponding proposals for tender opportunities and/or engineering studies.
  • Interact with the Engineering department and external suppliers to obtain material / equipment prices and analyze comparative pricing.
  • Ensuring bids prepared are competitive and provide required rate of return for the Company.
  • Suggest and calculate alternative contract forms relating to specific tenders.
  • Constantly keeping abreast of market value of manpower, materials, and equipment resources and associated costs.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with other individuals in the organization to obtain, review and support the commitments necessary for project success at the tendering phase.
  • Work closely with all operational divisions to track, monitor, report and reconcile estimated versus actual performance and costs across Dumas' project portfolio.
  • Monitor and develop continual improvement initiatives to algin proposals operational capability.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to existing portfolio projects, including components of project management and project reporting.
  • Be able and prepared to travel for site visits and collect the required information in order to carry out estimates, and work in branch or joint venture partner offices. Travel may include international assignments.

Technical Competencies:

  • Educational experience in business, technical college, or engineering programs.
  • College or university level degree in, communication or a business or related field.
  • Strong computer and word processing skills, thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and desktop publishing software.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a tendering / proposal coordination role for a contracting company.
  • Familiarity with CRM, ERP and BI Software.
  • Exceptional written communication and editing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understand and able to communicate the technical aspects of underground mine contracting.
  • Able to clearly articulate the key elements of Dumas' technical disciplines.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Capacity to work effectively with deadlines and short-time frames.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in technical report preparation, preferably in the mining or construction industry
    .
