About the Company

We're seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Manager to join the Accounting Department of our client's Toronto office.

About the Role

In this role, you'll support the General Manager and Senior Manager by overseeing key accounting operations, reviewing financial reports, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. This position offers a stable, long-term opportunity with room for professional growth in a collaborative and professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements
  • Assist with quarterly consolidation and general ledger reporting
  • Support business planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Review subsidiary financials and provide accounting support as needed
  • Maintain and document SOX internal control procedures and perform key control testing
  • Review financial transactions to identify and resolve issues
  • Lead or participate in special projects and handle complex accounting issues (e.g., revenue recognition, lease accounting)
  • Post journal entries in SAP and financial consolidation systems
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, external auditors, and other stakeholders
  • Process tax payments to CRA as instructed by the Tax Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • CPA designation required

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in corporate accounting or public accounting
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, ASPE, and internal controls (SOX compliance)
  • Experience in financial reporting, analysis, and budget management
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Knowledge of consolidation reporting is an asset
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite

Pay range and compensation package

$80,000–$90,000 per year (based on experience) + full benefits
