About the Organization

Acute musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries are a common reason for healthcare visits. Delayed and limited physician and nurse practitioner access highlight an opportunity to capitalize on the distinct, yet parallel, scopes of practice between pharmacists and physiotherapists for the collaborative management of acute MSK injuries to improve equitable access and patient outcomes. The proposed work aims to develop, implement, and evaluate a Collaborative Framework bridging pharmacy and physiotherapy expertise to align scopes of practice in primary care in Nova Scotia.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Principal Investigators, the Research Coordinator will be based in Halifax, Nova Scotia and work with the interprofessional research team to develop, implement, and evaluate a collaborative framework for pharmacists and physiotherapists. The Research Coordinator will ensure timelines and deliverables of the project are being met.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage overall project coordination, including team meetings, timeline tracking, and interest-holder engagement.
• Support development and refinement of Collaborative Framework tools (education, communication, referral tools).
• Lead testing, data collection, and feedback gathering to improve tool effectiveness and usability.
• Deliver training sessions (virtual and in-person) for pharmacy and physiotherapy staff on tool usage.
• Coordinate development of patient experience and outcomes measures tools, recruitment materials, surveys, and ethics submissions.
• Assist with data analysis and dissemination, including report writing, manuscript preparation, and rural adaptation strategies.

Note

Some travel in the Halifax area to meet with pharmacy and physiotherapy teams will be required. Access to transportation (e.g., personal car) for these site visits will be required. Mileage will be reimbursed.

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Master's or professional degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., social or health sciences, applied health services research, or equivalent).
• Experience coordinating research and/or program management experience.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to take initiative, work independently, as well as work collaboratively within an interprofessional team.
• Strong organization skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint, to support tool development, presentations, and maintenance of records and information.

Assets

• Experience with tool development, group facilitation, and delivery of professional development.
• Demonstrated skill in academic writing, including publications, ethics submissions, and funding applications.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver clear presentations to diverse audiences.
• Experience with survey software (e.g., REDCap) and reference management software (e.g., Zotero).
