Calgary AB TP H, Canada Green Shield Canada Full time

WHO WE ARE

When it comes to health, we're always looking for ways to push for better. It's why we were founded in the first place. In 1957, our founder, pharmacist William Wilkinson, witnessed a mother sacrifice her health by forgoing her own medicine to pay for her sick daughter's prescription. He knew there had to be a better way. So, he introduced North America's first prepaid drug plan, and GreenShield was born as a not-for-profit with a mission to support better health for all Canadians.

We aren't just a health and benefits company. We're the only not-for-profit social enterprise that brings worlds of coverage and care together, all in one place.

We're noble challengers, purposefully building a better way and we need the best people to help us create a more holistic approach that takes care of the mind and body.

Our mission is to create better health for all Canadians, and we know that starts with our employees.

THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

As a key contributor to GreenShield Health's growth strategy, the Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence and achieving ambitious revenue objectives in Calgary or Vancouver. This position requires a highly proactive, results-driven professional with the ability to generate and qualify leads, build strategic relationships, and present innovative health solutions to executive-level stakeholders. Success in this role demands high activity levels, persistence, and a strong sense of urgency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business growth through outbound prospecting, networking, and strategic engagement to identify and qualify high-value opportunities.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to inbound inquiries, converting interest into actionable sales opportunities.
  • Lead the development of comprehensive RFP responses and finalist presentations, collaborating with internal teams, including client management, clinical, product, finance, and operations to deliver winning solutions.
  • Apply a consultative selling approach to position our mental health, telemedicine, and broader health offerings to senior leadership audiences (HR executives, CFOs, CEOs).
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with benefits advisors, consultants, and TPAs to expand market reach and accelerate growth.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and proposals tailored to client needs throughout the sales cycle.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed individual and team sales targets through disciplined activity and strategic selling techniques.
  • Negotiate and finalize client agreements, balancing profitability with long-term relationship development.
  • Accurately forecast sales activity and pipeline metrics, leveraging insights to refine prospecting strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Implementation & Account Management Teams to ensure seamless onboarding and support initiatives that enhance client experience.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Undergraduate degree in business, health services, or technology preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, account management, or consulting, with a proven track record of exceeding performance targets.
  • Demonstrated success in high-activity, results-oriented environments.
  • Expertise in solution-based selling to senior executives and HR leaders
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian employee benefits landscape, as well as the health technology and wellbeing sectors.
  • Experience working with Group Benefits Advisors and Consultants, as well as within an insurance-adjacent or health tech organization, is considered an asset.
  • Technologically agile and quick to adopt new platforms.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.

This role requires a high level of energy, resilience, and determination. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are motivated by ambitious goals, we invite you to join our team and make a measurable impact.

THE CULTURE

We believe a career should be meaningful. Not just a means to earn a living. Our culture is one where everyone's voice is heard and valued. Because that's what it takes to create better health for all. We dare to challenge the status quo. And we're driven by people who have challenged theirs. We believe that your workplace should empower you to be the best version of yourself. That's why we provide a place where you can be inspired, challenged, and rewarded.

Where your growth means our growth.

Where your voice is heard and valued.

Where your work has purpose. And purpose matters.

We believe our people are critical to our overall success. Inclusivity makes us a stronger, smarter and more informed organization. Being intentionally inclusive of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences will enhance our company culture to positively impact how we support our communities. A career at GreenShield isn't just about personal achievements, it's about making a
difference together.
