Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented full time or part time Optometric Assistant to join our eye care team. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the optometry practice, assist with patient care, and ensure a smooth patient experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in healthcare, optical services, and patient interaction. Prior experience in a medical office setting or optical environment is preferred. The position involves working closely with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, and utilizing electronic medical records to document patient information accurately.

Duties

  • Greet patients and assist with check-in procedures at the front desk
  • Prepare exam rooms and pretest patients prior to their eye examinations
  • Order contact lenses
  • Follow up on specialist referrals
  • Manage appointment scheduling, reminders, and follow-up communications
  • Support administrative tasks such as billing, insurance verification, and data entry

Skills

  • Prior experience in a medical office environment or optical practice is highly desirable
  • Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient needs, including pediatrics
  • Ability to handle front desk responsibilities efficiently, including scheduling and customer service
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team in a fast-paced environment
