Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Apprentice Mechanic to join our team. ( 1st or 2nd year)The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical knowledge and experience in maintaining and repairing various types of on hiway equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, brakes, suspension and auxiliary systems. The Heavy Duty Apprentice Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring that our equipment is in optimal working condition to meet customer demands.

Duties

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on Heavy Trucks and Trailers
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and technical manuals to determine necessary repairs.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment to identify potential problems before they lead to failures.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and services performed on each piece of equipment.

Requirements

  • Proven mechanic experience with on hiway equipment. Dealership experience is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in repair and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems is desirable.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and operate heavy equipment safely.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
