Overview
A fast-growing custom architectural millwork and cabinetry manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Production Manager to lead shop operations. The ideal candidate has deep experience in woodworking production, thrives in a lean manufacturing environment, and knows how to balance people leadership with process management.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily shop floor operations, including CNC, assembly, edge-banding, and finishing.
Plan and schedule production to meet delivery timelines with minimal downtime.
Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing and 5S/Kaizen practices.
Maintain high quality standards and reduce rework or errors.
Collaborate with estimating, engineering, and installation teams to align schedules.
Mentor and manage a team of 10–15+ production staff.
Track and report shop KPIs (output, defects, efficiency, safety).
Ensure preventative maintenance and equipment reliability.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
Required Qualifications
8+ years in millwork, cabinetry, or woodworking production.
3+ years in a supervisory or production manager role.
Strong knowledge of CNC machining, edge-banding, finishing, and assembly workflows.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing / continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong leadership and delegation skills, with proven ability to develop teams.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
Skilled in scheduling, workflow optimization, and problem-solving.
Proficiency with spreadsheets and/or production software.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Knowledge of Mozaik, Cabinet Vision, or other CAD/CAM software.
Experience creating SOPs and training programs.
Forklift license and safety certification.
Familiarity with WSIB/health & safety standards.
Experience in commercial or high-end residential millwork projects.
