The Role:

The Accessibility and Inclusion Training Specialist designs, delivers, and refines employer-focused training sessions on accessibility, inclusion, and disability awareness. The role involves creating workshop content specifically 10 comprehensive workshops based on the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW)'s Disability Confidence toolkit, piloting sessions with employers, gathering feedback, and strengthening employer capacity through engaging facilitation.

The main accountabilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and refine workshop content using adult learning principles and inclusive design to foster disability-inclusive workplaces.
  • Facilitate presentations and pilot workshops with employers
  • Gather feedback to innovate and refine workshop formats, activities, and delivery methods.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all participants, stakeholders etc.
  • Coordinate and book sessions, attend community events, and build employer connections.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and leverage community partnerships.
  • Travel to deliver workshops across 5-6 external locations within the region of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Ensure all milestones are met within the defined timeframe of the project.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required

Requirements to be considered for this job:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's in education, HR, Adult Learning, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in workshop development and facilitation.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and accessibility practices.
  • Background in HR, employment policy, or disability advocacy would be considered an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Teams, and virtual/live training tools.
  • Strong facilitation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to Travel within the region of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Job Creation Partnership Program Requirements:

This position is a part of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's Job Creation Partnership Program. You must meet the eligibility criteria below:

  • Be a resident of the province
  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Meet the definition of EI-eligible
  • Be approved by the department under Section 25 of the Employment Insurance Act as insured participants who are active EI claimants
  • Have an employment plan that identifies that the JCP work experience being considered supports a reasonable occupational goal
  • Individuals may also be eligible to participate in the JCP as a Former Claimant (EI Part 2 eligibility), meaning you are currently unemployed and have received EI in the last 60 months.
