Project Coordinator
Full-time Position
Location: Calgary, AB (Remote)
Closing Date: Until position has been filled
***We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous candidates***
Why Work With Us?
Imagine a place where you can take control of your work schedule. Where you are not the owner, but you are empowered to think like one. Where you can create the work environment that you thrive in. At Scout, we put our people first. Our culture is continuously evolving to better meet the needs and preferences of our employees. We are not afraid to experiment and challenge the status quo of corporate norms, and we are happy to say it's been working so far
That said, let us introduce ourselves: Scout Engineering & Consulting Ltd. is a 100% Indigenous-owned company that was founded to deliver solutions currently not available to Indigenous Communities. We believe in cultivating adaptive systems and advancing human capacity to support empathetic engagement with First Nation, Inuit, and Métis. We create lasting and positive outcomes that nurture trusting relationships and promote thriving communities. And, most importantly, we put the community first.
Scout is a company that offers a unique opportunity to entrepreneurial minds. We are remote-first, offer flexible work schedules, and provide a competitive salary and benefits program. We believe in recognizing and rewarding hard work. We empower employees to use the connections we have built to launch new ideas that offer value to Indigenous Communities. If you are a self-starter who loves to experiment with creative initiatives, we highly recommend submitting an application.
What would be your purpose?
Scout is on the hunt for a rockstar Project Coordinator to assist with current and upcoming projects. As Project Coordinator, you will be working on the front lines of projects, keeping teams aligned, organized, and moving forward. You'll be the go-to person for clear updates, smooth coordination, and well-timed information sharing. If you thrive in a fast-moving environment and love being the calm, proactive centre of a project, this role is for you.
What would you do?
- Scheduling and logistics: Coordinate timelines, meetings, and resource allocation to keep projects on track.
- Communication: Act as the key point of contact, keeping project teams, stakeholders, and leadership aligned through clear and reliable updates.
- Proactive information sharing: Keep project information organized and ensure the right details are shared with the right people at the right time, so teams always have the context they need.
- Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records, monitor progress, and help prepare status updates and presentations for stakeholders.
- Budget and risk management: Track budgets, monitor spending, and identify emerging risks or issues to support timely mitigation.
- Administrative support: Handle various administrative tasks, staying open-minded and flexible as needs arise.
- Internal Project Operations: Ensure that project invoices and employee timesheets are free of errors and approved in a timely manner.
So... is this you?
Effective Self-Management:
You get it done You can manage many competing responsibilities and priorities at once. You've got self-sufficiency, resourcefulness, and maintain a sense of passionate urgency.
Is there a better way? You have or want to develop critical thinking skills to challenge the saying "but that's how we've always done it" or "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
Working (mostly) at home is a fit for you You are proactive, self-motivated, and can work both independently and with a team in a remote setting.
Adaptability and Collaboration:
Embrace yours and other's uniquenessYou demonstrate strong and flexible interpersonal skills. You are committed to getting to know the team and their preferences on how to best work together. You can adapt your actions and behaviours depending on the situation at hand.
Introverted or Extraverted cheerleader?Either way, you provide collaborative support as a team member, giving both the good and the bad. You promote the inclusion of all employees by recognizing barriers and trying to knock them down
Problem-Solving and Communication:
PuzzlesYou like understanding a problem before solving it, and you find co-generated solutions are often the best approach to finding solutions that will stick.
Catch my drift? You have effective communication and presentation skills, both written and oral. You have strong computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office, but most importantly you recognize that it is not just what you say – it is how you say and when you say it.
Education and Experience:
We are looking for someone with at least 2 years of professional experience with a focus on project coordination. Similar, transferrable experience will be considered.
At Scout, we believe in the power of diverse experiences. While project management certificates and MBAs are valuable, we also recognize that equivalent work experience can be just as enriching. If you are passionate, driven, and eager to learn, we strongly encourage you to apply regardless of educational background.
Statement:
"Indigenous Peoples have the right to determine and develop priorities and strategies for exercising their right to development. In particular, Indigenous Peoples have the right to be actively involved in developing and determining health, housing and other economic and social programs affecting them and, as afar as possible, to administer such programs through their own institutions."
