Accounting Assistant

Accounting Assistant (*Open to recent graduates)

We are a leading information technology consulting firm located in Mississauga. We have an immediate opening for a Junior Accountant to assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, payroll, and month-end and year-end procedures. The role is suited for a recent graduate from an accounting program looking to gain experience as the role will provide exposure to the full accounting cycle and on-the-job training. If you have good communication skills and the desire to learn new skills this is the ideal role for you.

What you will do:

· Prepare bi-weekly payroll for hourly employees

· Oversee the timesheet import process

· Responsible for payroll related journal entries

· Assist with set-up of new vendors, clients, and employees and maintain digital storage of financial information.

· Reconcile vendor bills, follow-up with vendors and manage the accounts payable process.

· Reconcile and process employee expense submissions.

· Record cash receipts and prepare collection reports for management.

· Manage the central accounting mailbox and provide customer and vendor support.

· Provide backup support to the recruitment and onboarding specialist (assist with onboarding, background checks, contract generation and compliance)

· Assist Finance Manager to prepare and assemble timely and accurate monthly financial and management reporting.

· Assist with year end audit

· Special ADHOC reporting as required

· Continuously seek solutions to enhance efficiency and financial performance

How you qualify:

· A diploma or degree in accounting

· Exposure to QuickBooks Online and ADP Workforce Now is an asset

· Efficient use of MS Office; especially Excel, Word, Outlook

· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written English)

· Effective and efficient problem solving/decision making skills

· Proven ability to multitask and organize work to meet competing deadlines

· Results oriented and strong attention to detail

· Self-starter with ability to work independently

Location & Hours

· Hybrid work options available after completion of training period

· Normal work week is 37.5 hours Monday to Friday.
