Accountant

Navis Marine Insurance Brokerage, a proud partner of Navacord, is a boutique brokerage specializing in all things marine. We are looking for an Accountant, to join our team to provide accounting services, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, company payables and related reporting.

Whether you are already in the accounting field or are pursuing your education in accounting, you bring knowledge of accounting and amazing administrative skills (organizing, detail orientation, data entry, MS Office expertise) and a desire to learn. Job Location:

· Vancouver, BC (Burrard/Pender)

The salary band is $45,000 to 55,000 depending on experience.

As an Accountant, you will participate in:

• · Prepare daily cash receipts including credit card, e-transfers and cheque payments made by customers, for review by the Senior Accountant.
• Review producer payables report to ensure accuracy of payments and identify any issues to Senor Accountant for resolution.
• Responsible for Accounts Payable processing.
• Review company payables to reconcile records (e.g., reconciliations – net premium owed to the various Insurance Companies Navis transact with).
• Work as a team to resolve discrepancies, including working directly with peers in other Insurance Companies, and internally with Client Service Representatives (CSR) and Sales team.
• Complete processing in EPIC and send to Senior Accountant to review and issue payments.
• Collaborate with team members on accounting practices and procedures to support accuracy and efficiency of processing, service to customers, and reputation with other Insurance companies.
• Assist in administrative and office support
• Participate in projects and other duties as assigned.

Must Haves:

• Post Secondary education including courses in Business, Accounting or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience working in an office environment, ideally in an accounting role, where work was fast-paced and attention to detail was critical.
• Demonstrated numerical ability, and confidence in using technology (e.g., excel and other similar system/tools) to achieve efficiencies.
• Committed to continuous education through workshops, seminars, and conferences.
• Insurance industry experience is a plus, but not a necessity.
